Client: iHound Software - an online digital device recovery application that helps connect people with their lost or stolen mp3 devices through an online mapping interface that geolocates the device once plugged into a usb port.

Challenge:
iHound Software maintained an existing website, logo and user interface which provided a testing ground for the beta phase of its software development lifecycle. At this stage, iHound Software was ready for a house cleaning, to remove any unnecessary clutter that would get in the way of a smooth user experience. iHoundSoftware.com's voice was not yet ready for primetime and they needed to find it quickly.

A website and ui redesign that effectively translated the existing logo into a fully branded user experience, along with a user-friendly workflow, was needed to bring all of the pieces together.

Solution:
The first problem I tackled was the message. I Designed a custom Illustration in the voice of the old comic book superhero symbol being projected in the sky to alert the superhero of danger. This coincided with the slogan and instantly visually communicated what iHound Software does.

Next, I looked at the user workflow. I quickly decided to "light the way", in the form of brightly colored action items, with a vibrant cobalt blue or chartreuse green for the buttons and a neon green for the status. This set against a muted backdrop interface, did the trick.

Finally, I designed a new set of icons to represent the device type being tracked so users with multiple devices could quickly sort them out.


Results:
As a result iHound Software is now on the circuit getting the buzz it deserves. It recently was featured on MSNBC's Tech Now. Watch the video at ihoundsoftware.com
